How It Works
How to obtain a storage spot:
- Purchase advance rental by contacting the Boatyard Managers, who will discuss a suitable space, provide you an agreement to sign, full payment details and confirm the period to be covered.
- Place your kayak/boat in your agreed storage spot on the kayak/boat storage rack or ground space.
Storage Costs:
- Prices are per kayak/boat.
- Amount agreed and payable annually in advance:
- Kayak / Canoe (£1.25/week) £65/year
- Small Boat (£5/week) £260/year
Storage Rules
- The Boatyard shall be used solely for personal use for storage of kayaks or boats and for related equipment supplies and for no other purpose including, but not limited to, business usage.
- Hazardous and/or flammable materials may not be stored.
- Storage is for kayaks/boats only, no other personal property may be stored without permission.
- Your kayak/boat must be stored in a manner that does not interfere with other boatyard users or the general public.
- The kayak/boat must be contained wholly within the assigned spot and must not impede access to other spots.
- The security of kayak/boat (and equipment) is the sole responsibility of the Renter.
- The Boatyard Owners & Managers are not responsible for damaged or stolen property.
- Renter must provide their own locking device. The Boatyard Owners & Managers accepts no liability for damage to, or security of, Renter’s property. It is mandatory that your kayak/boat be secured to the assigned rack/spot at BOTH the front and the rear. This is to prevent the possibility of the kayak/boat coming loose during high winds. When this occurs, damage to other kayak/boat could be considered the liability of the Renter who failed to have his kayak/boat secured at both ends.
- Paddles and oars may be stored on-site but must be secured to the kayak/boat within the Renter’s spot. All other equipment must either be removed or stored inside the kayak/boat.
- Area around the kayak/boat must be kept clean and orderly.
- Renters will not alter the spots, rack or fixtures.
- Any damage or theft should be reported to The Boatyard Managers immediately.
Non-compliance of the storage rules:
- You will be notified in writing that you will have 30 days to address the matter raised.
- If still not complied by that date your kayak/boat may be impounded. A minimum service charge of £50 will be required for property owners to reclaim their kayak/boat. Also, in order to provide protected storage space, such impounded boats/kayaks will include a minimum fee of £25 per month that their kayak/boat is impounded.
End of Season/Renewal:
- If not renewing, the kayak/boat must be removed prior to the expiration of the period of the rental agreement.
- Any kayak/boat found in violation may be removed by The Boatyard management. Fees for removal and storage may be assessed.
- There will be no refunds of a storage rental fee.
- All applicants must reapply for rental each year, with priority given to returning Renters.
- Forms will be forwarded by email to Renters on file, as well as to new applicants who request the information.
- Information will be provided to the Renter to arrange payment on, or before, the renewal date.
Late/Non Payment Notice:
Kayaks/boats still in situ after the rental term expiration may be impounded. A minimum service charge of £50 will be required for property owners to reclaim their boat/kayak. Also, in order to provide protected storage space, such impounded boat/kayaks will include a minimum fee of £25 per month that their boat/kayak is impounded.
